How are things going?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>My first show, I was going into it with no clue of what to expect and I was pretty nervous but I\u2019ve been so pleased with the reception and the people that have come back after seeing me open for someone else. Also, I have a tour manager this time! It feels super luxurious [laughs].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"For_people_coming_to_the_shows_what_can_they_expect\"><\/span>For people coming to the shows, what can they expect?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I talk a lot. Is there anything you miss about being in a band you wish you could bring over to the solo world?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s some Churchill quote that\u2019s about the \u201cband of brothers\u201d going forth into battle together and you kind of feel that when you\u2019re on tour with a band and accomplishing something together. It\u2019s both gratifying because you are accomplishing something and really comforting because you have the people you love around you \u2013 it adds a different quality to the achievement. When you do it yourself it\u2019s like, whoa, I\u2019ve done this, but you don\u2019t get that comradery with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Your_Twitter_bio_is_%E2%80%9Ctell_me_stories_of_how_youre_bound%E2%80%9D_How_does_that_concept_play_into_the_stories_behind_your_music_and_the_meaning_of_the_name_Yoke_Lore\"><\/span>Your Twitter bio is \u201ctell me stories of how you\u2019re bound.\u201d How does that concept play into the stories behind your music and the meaning of the name Yoke Lore?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A yoke is binding; it holds the oxen together as they go through the fields. Lore is the set of stories in the verbal tradition. The two together, I really think that\u2019s where the value is in life. You can judge a person\u2019s life by the integrity of their relationships and I think that\u2019s the place we can all do more work \u2013 at making our connections stronger and making them more meaningful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_music_video_for_the_fan-favourite_%E2%80%9CBeige%E2%80%9D_shows_you_trying_to_break_out_from_the_sort_of_inauthentic_%E2%80%98mould_artists_often_get_put_into_Can_you_share_more_about_that\"><\/span>The music video for the fan-favourite \u201cBeige\u201d shows you trying to break out from the sort of inauthentic \u2018mould\u2019 artists often get put into. Can you share more about that?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I think it\u2019s really easy to do that and you get rewarded a lot of times for doing whatever everybody else is doing \u2013 for looking like a mannequin basically. It forces us as artists to really have this self-awareness that goes beyond the music, clothes and all that and forces us to remember ourselves so that we can give you something real. It\u2019s not enough for it to be pretty or sound nice. I really want my art to move people and I want to work hard at digging into myself to find out what I really mean, what I really want, how I\u2019m feeling about things and what my struggles are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"You_dance_paint_play_instruments_write_your_own_music_and_of_course_sing_How_does_being_so_well-versed_in_the_arts_help_you\"><\/span>You dance, paint, play instruments, write your own music and of course sing. How does being so well-versed in the arts help you?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I think the way I use my body in dance kind of informs the way music moves through me physically. I experience music very viscerally and I want it to be something you can touch and move around and feel. I think drawing is another part of that and it forces me to be visual where I\u2019d so much rather be sonic. I think all of them are just different perspectives and the more perspectives you have, the more holistic it is and the more dynamic my work will be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_title_track_of_your_latest_EP_%E2%80%9CGoodpain%E2%80%9D_is_about_the_essential_evils_in_life_and_how_they_make_you_stronger_in_the_end_What_sparked_that_song\"><\/span>The title track of your latest EP, \u201cGoodpain,\u201d is about the essential evils in life and how they make you stronger in the end. What sparked that song?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m not a Taoist but I kind of subscribe to the Taoist philosophy. In Taoism, all life is constantly in flux. In order to feel OK, you need to be constantly in flux yourself. I know it sounds morbid, but you kind of have to kill off little parts of yourself that don\u2019t make much sense anymore \u2013 you know, like outdated ideas and conceptions about yourself and about the world. I think \u201cGoodpain\u201d is about those periods of little death that you have to force yourself through in order to arrive at your next vista or environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Your_setlist_on_this_tour_includes_a_few_yet-to-be-released_tracks_Are_they_part_of_an_album\"><\/span>Your setlist on this tour includes a few yet-to-be-released tracks. Are they part of an album?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>They are going to be part of an EP that will start coming out in a month or two. The three I play are \u201cCut and Run,\u201d \u201cConcrete\u201d and \u201cFake You.\u201d I think \u201cConcrete\u201d is my favourite \u2013 it\u2019s kind of a slow jam but it\u2019s really heavy at the same time. It\u2019s about me needing different parts of myself in order to be OK. There\u2019s a forest Adrian and a city Adrian, and I need both of those Adrians to feel complete. It\u2019s like the opposite of \u201cGoodpain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_are_your_goals_for_2018\"><\/span>What are your goals for 2018?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I want to tour all the time and release a bunch of videos to go with the new EP. All I can ask is that I just keep steadily growing and reach more and more people on more and more continents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks, Yoke Lore!
