Netflix has been transforming restaurants across the country into Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe, a diner from the hit series Riverdale, in celebration of the show’s season two premiere yesterday.
Fran’s College Street location was the first to transform in Toronto.
With the waiters dressed in full Pop’s diner uniform (complete with red bowties) and the big lit-up Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe sign inside, it felt like walking right into Riverdale. Upon entry, the first 200 guests were asked to pick a team – Betty or Veronica – for a free corresponding milkshake in an official Pop’s cup. If guests chose Team Betty, they received an old fashioned vanilla milkshake, while those who picked Veronica were given a double chocolate milkshake. Guests were then able to try on costume pieces, such as Archie’s jacket and Veronica’s pearls, for a picture in a booth with the Pop’s sign. Guests who wanted to stay and eat were directed to another room and given a menu inspired by the show. The options? Homemade beef burgers, fish and chips and the Betty and Veronica milkshakes.
If you missed the pop-up yesterday, you can still go tonight. Fran’s on College Street and The Lakeview will both be hosting Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
