The Student Learning Centre is a great space for studying between classes; however, when it comes to exams, it’s not always the quiet environment that you need. Coffee shops have a great atmosphere that allows you to finish exam prep while enjoying a cup of something sweet.
We composed the perfect week of study spaces for you and your notes.
Monday: Dufflet Pastries
Location: 1917 Queen St. E., Toronto, ON M4L 1H3
Dufflet is located on Queen St. E. in the Beaches community. The café makes fresh pastries every day and is perfect for those who love sweets and biscuits. At the back of the café, there is a quiet area perfect for studying.
Tuesday: St. Lawrence Market
Location: 93 Front St. E., Toronto, ON M5E 1C3
The St. Lawrence Market is great for studying on a sunny day. The market is located on Front Street, with a patio surrounding the market on both sides. Vendors sell everything from fresh bread and danishes to lattes and drip coffee. The market is ideal for studying while taking advantage of Toronto’s good weather.
Wednesday: The Moonbean Cafe
Location: 30 St. Andrew St., Toronto, ON M5T 1K6
Every Torontonian knows and loves the Moonbean. It is known for its relaxed atmosphere and for having students hunched over their laptops with several cups cluttering the tables. The Moonbean also has an excellent tea selection.
Thursday: Fran’s Restaurant and Bar
Location: 20 College St., Toronto, ON M5G 2B3
A modest diner created in 1940, Fran’s is a local hotspot for writers and artists in Toronto. The diner is located on College Street. close to Ryerson’s Mattamy Athletic Centre. Open 24/7, this place is perfect for late night studying and some great company.
Friday: Art Square Cafe and Creperie
Location: 334 Dundas St. W., Toronto, ON M5T 1G5
The Art Square Café and Creperie is across from the Art Gallery of Toronto and its space is a reflection of this. The café is decorated as a gallery; guests are greeted with the typical white walls and overhead lights. They have a patio, perfect for studying while being surrounded by original art. The café has an excellent selection of Turkish coffee and crêpes.
Saturday: FIKA Cafe
Location: 28 Kensington Ave., Toronto, ON M5T 2J9
The FIKA Cafe is at the heart of Kensington Market, complete with a patio, backyard and indoor sitting space. The word fika is a concept in Swedish culture that means “to have coffee.” The café has a warm, homey atmosphere with great beverages such as lavender white hot chocolate. FIKA is a good place to kick back and spend a few hours preparing for your exams.
Sunday: Il Gatto Nero
Location: 720 College St., Toronto, ON M6G 1C2
Il Gatto Nero means “The Black Cat” in Italian. This café is located in Toronto’s Little Italy and is the perfect quiet study space. The café has prime drip coffee and Americanos, giving you the perfect excuse to stay for a few cups and finish your notes.
