The Toronto Marlies faced the St. John’s IceCaps at home this past weekend in a back-to- back finishing with a 3-1 win on Saturday March 4 and falling short to the IceCaps 0-3 on Sunday, March 5.
The Marlies played a strong first game with 21 shots on net while IceCaps goalie, Charlie Lindgren, defended rigorously. Sunday’s game finished with both the Marlies and Icecaps having 24 shots on net, but the IceCaps pulled ahead leaving Toronto on a high note.
The last time the Marlies faced off against the IceCaps was on February 27 and 28 at Mile One Centre in St. John’s, N.L. The Marlies dominated that weekend winning 5-3 and 4-0.
The Marlies have played 60 games thus far holding a record of 30-25- 4-1 (W-L- OTL-SOL). They are currently in third place with 65 points and are five points away from the Syracuse Crunch in first place and just one point shy of the Albany Devils in second for the North Division.
The Marlies will face St. John’s next on April 4 on home ice at the Ricoh Coliseum.
