Have you missed our Ryerson Rams in action? Here’s an update on some of our varsity teams.
The Ryerson women’s volleyball team has an overall record of 13-11. As they come off of a 3-2 win against York and a 3-1 win against Nipissing, they look for a third consecutive win this Friday against Queen’s. The women have Ryerson will host the 2017 U-Sports women’s volleyball national championship in March.
The Rams men’s volleyball team have an overall record of 7-8 and have won one of their last five games with their most recent lost to Nipissing 0-3. Their single victory in the past five games was against York defeating them 3-2. Their next game is at home on Friday against Queen’s.
The Ryerson men’s basketball team continued their excellent season with an 11-game winning streak. The streak dates all the way back to Nov. 11 when the Rams beat Toronto 88-61. They had their most impressive winter win against Waterloo with a 32-point victory. The Rams have an overall record of 17-3. The men look to keep the winning streak going as they face McMaster at home on Wednesday.
The women’s basketball team has been having a successful season so far with an overall record of 16-7. They played seven games since Dec. 3, earning five wins. Ryerson is ranked seventh nationally. They won their last game 62-50 against Waterloo. They will also face McMaster on Wednesday as they go for their third consecutive win.
The Rams men’s hockey team have won four consecutive games. Their last match against Windsor proved to be a noteworthy game for their Captain Michael Fine. In 9-1 victory, Fine reached a career high of 80 assists earning him the title of all-time assists leader in Ryerson men’s hockey history. The Rams hold an impressive record of 20-8 and play their next game at home on Friday. The game will also be televised on Rogers TV.
The Ryerson women’s hockey team is struggling as they hold an overall record of 7-17. They are currently on a six-game losing streak. Their worst lost this winter was a 0-5 loss to Windsor earlier this month. Their last win dates back to Dec. 1 against Laurier winning 3-2. The women play their next game on Saturday against Brock University.
The Ryerson curling club team has had a pretty good season thus far. They have four wins, three losses, and one tie. All three of their losses were consecutive to start the season. The team won 7-3 against Brock JV in their last game. They play at the McMaster Invitational this weekend in Hamilton, Ont.
