Acoustic Bash smashes Toronto

Bring together the best of the best rising digital stars from YouTube, Vine and Twitter and their passionate fans and you’re guaranteed an epic bash. Back for the second year in a row, the Acoustic Bash concert tour pulled out all the stops on March 18 at the Social Capital Theatre in Toronto for a day filled with good music, hilarious jokes and no shortage of Snapchat story-worthy moments.

This year, the bill did not disappoint, boasting fan favourites like The Next Star alum Ryland Clark, Viner Gregor Reynolds and Degrassi: Next Class star Richard Walters. In order to accommodate the massive fan turnout, Acoustic Bash was split into two separate shows. Each show featured two stacked hours of live entertainment, culminating in a meet and greet with all the performers and talent.

RUtv News scored an exclusive invite to the second half of Acoustic Bash’s Toronto festivities. Kicking off the second show, Hamilton native Justin Toito captured the crowd’s hearts when he pulled his girlfriend Karli up on stage for a stripped down duet of James Bay’s “Let It Go.”

Ryland Clark, a finalist from the seventh season of YTV’s hit show The Next Star, proved his star power hasn’t faded, beautifully covering songs by Ed Sheeran, Tori Kelly and Shawn Mendes and getting everyone to sing along.

After an introduction by Viner Gregor Reynolds and YouTuber Hayden Deveaux, singer Grant Austin brought the crowd to their feet with a cover of Jack & Jack’s “Paradise (Never Change)” and a surprise performance of his yet-to-be released song with TheSamCam, “All Coming Back.”

Keeping the energy alive, YTV personality Mark “Suki” Suknanan gave an energetic performance and surprised some lucky fans in the crowd with T-shirts.

YouTuber Sam Collins and his friend Sam Garn did a fun question-and-answer session with the audience, which quickly turned into a casual conversation with plenty of fun puns.

Degrassi: Next Class star Richard Walters’s performance established him as a triple threat: a talented actor, a great singer and an incredible dancer. He lit up the stage with his original songs “Unique” and “Be Ready,” which he dedicated to the 6.

Diego Gomes, who shot to fame as the winner of the third season of The Next Star, delivered the perfect closing set. Despite some technical difficulties, Diego’s vocals shined on his cover of Zedd and Jon Bellion’s “Beautiful Now,” an acoustic rendition of his song “Mystery Girl,” and a throwback performance of his single “My Bestfriend’s Girl.”

It’s needless to say that Acoustic Bash Toronto was a hit! The Acoustic Bash tour is next set to travel to Montreal in May. Follow Acoustic Bash for ticket and line-up information. Also, keep it locked to RUtv News for exclusive interviews with Acoustic Bash stars Sam Collins and Diego Gomes!
