It’s almost that day of the year again. The day where couples can be as cheesy as they want to be without being judged.
Valentine’s Day may not be for everyone, but it doesn’t have to be just for couples. Have you ever heard of Singles Awareness Day? How about Galentine’s Day? If you have absolutely no idea what to do on Cupid’s special day, look no further!
If you are in a relationship:
1. RU Love lunch
Sign up for the RU Love Lunch held Friday in the SLC Amphitheatre. Get your tickets now and enjoy a free lunch and entertainment: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/ru-love-lunch-tickets-21115848070
2. Skating
Enjoy a romantic skate at Nathan Phillips Square.
Open daily from 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.
3. Distillery District
Spend the afternoon at the Distillery District. On Feb. 13, Arta Gallery will be opening a pop-up shop featuring gifts made by local artisans. The shop will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Here’s your chance to give a gift to that special someone!
4. Dinner and a movie
If you want to reminisce abut the first time you met your significant other, watch The Choice, a movie about two neighbors who fall in love at first sight. If a Nicholas Sparks based movie is not for you, Deadpool may be a better option.
5. Chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate
Art & Chocolate is an event produced by George Brown College Special Event Planning Students that will be held at Artscape Youngplace. You can enjoy a series of art collections while indulging in an array of chocolates. If you are single:
1. Binge watch Netflix
Nothing says romance like watching Ryan Gosling build Rachel McAdams her dream house in the Notebook.
2. Movie Night with friends
Go watch How to be Single (not like you need any further instructions on how to do that).
3. Valentine’s Day Love Inn at the Gladstone Hotel
The Gladstone Hotel has Valentine’s Day themed activities all weekend long. From Heartbreak Karaoke to dance parties, you won’t be bored! Click here for more event info: http://www.gladstonehotel.com/spaces/valentines-day-love-inn/
4. Bake a cake
Have you ever seen Pinterest baking fails? Valentine’s Day is your chance to try out all those recipes you can never get to. Practice now, so that when you do find your special someone, they’ll be blown away by your baking skills.
5. Bowling
Have a fun night out bowling with a group of your friends. Who knows, maybe you’ll fall in love with the cutie who got a strike in the lane next to you.
If you are Anti-Valentine’s Day:
1. Treat yourself
Feb. 15 marks the day when Valentine’s chocolates go on sale. You know what to do!
