ASTR Shines Bright with a New EP and Tour

(By: Angela McLean)

New York natives Zoe Silverman and Adam Pallin are yoga partners turned musical partners. After meeting in a Manhattan yoga studio, Silverman and Pallin quickly discovered their shared love for deep house and 90s hip-hop. Forming a friendship was easy and the rest was history. Now, ASTR, their electronic/alternative/evolved R&B brainchild, has grown from an indie secret to a worldwide success in less than three years.

ASTR’s music is reminiscent of Ellie Goulding, Marina and the Diamonds and BROODS and definitely shares in their grungy yet mystically melodic sounds. ASTR’s latest release, the HomecomingEP, is an excellent six-track collection which highlights Silverman’s dreamy vocals and Pallin’s exceptional production. Standouts include “Activate Me,” an upbeat and poppy jam that is moody and dark at the heart, and “Get So High,” the EP’s powerful lead which sets listeners up for an exciting ride.

For fans looking to hear the new music live, ASTR recently shared some awesome news: they are currently on the road with Ryn Weaver and HOLYCHILD for a triple-header tour. The ‘Misfit Toys Tour’ is making several stops across the United States throughout the month of November, with a special Toronto stop on November 16 at The Mod Club (the only Canadian show on the tour).

Tickets for this Toronto show are still available through TicketWeb. Act fast because this is not one to be missed! Doors open at 7:00 PM.

The Homecoming EP is out now on iTunes, Spotify and SoundCloud. Keep up to date with ASTR by following their social media channels:
